I have often commented to myself at Jan Benham’s glowing complexion and youthful appearance, for a number of years now. As a doctor of Naturopathy, I focus my attention on the prevention and treatment of disease. It often manifests as a combination of emotional/mental, physical and spiritual imbalances.
After reading this book, I have nothing but praise for her holistic approach to skin care. I agree wholeheartedly with her emphasis on the importance that the skin plays in the health and well-being of the individual. The skin is the largest organ system of the body which both absorbs nutrients and eliminates waste materials.
In this toxic world, we need to be aware of the importance of substances that we put on our skin. Forty years of sun block, for instance, has likely contributed to the epidemic of osteoporosis that we see today by preventing the conversion of sunlight to Vitamin D.
Jan has given us a multitude of viable (and wonderful) alternatives to the chemically-laden products that are currently on the market. Most people are now aware of the harmful effects of the pesticides and preservatives that are in our food. Trends have changed to a preference for organic foods which are as healthy for our external environment as they are for our internal environment. Until now, the same could not be said for our cosmetics industry.
Here is a book that offers consumers the opportunity to take another important step towards manifesting a healthy lifestyle by choosing to use natural non-toxic creams and lotions.
I wish Jan the very best success in the launch of her second edition of her book.

A few years ago I bought both of the books "the creamy craft of cosmetic making" and "the baby boomers beauty bible", and have enjoyed many years now of making my own creams etc for myself and my family. Thanks so much for your indispensable information that have kept my family in great shape and a lot richer too.
